(picture show all three generations of plumbers - Blake, his father and late grandfather)
Canberra Plumbing and Fire is a one man show, owned and operated by Blake Langtry, a third generation licensed plumber and fire sprinkler fitter.
Blake started his plumbing apprenticeship back in 2012 when he was unsure what he wanted to do for his career, completing his apprenticeship with his own father's plumbing company. During his apprenticeship he had set himself a goal of getting better marks than his father, grandfather and the other men working for his father. Not only did he succeed in this goal but he also obtained the highest marks in his cohort several years in a row.
Over the next few year Blake spent time working for various companies that provided him with experience in almost all areas of plumbing but Blake decided he wanted to learn more. This decision led him to obtain his certificate III in Fire Protection, making him one of the very few dual qualified plumbers and fire sprinkler fitters in the ACT.
Over the course of his career, Blake has worked for several companies as well as himself on the weekends. He has come to realise the standard of plumbing and fire protection in the ACT does not meet the standard he believes to be acceptable, some of which does not even meet the Australian Standards set by the government. Unfortunately, he has noticed these standards continue to drop as his career continues.
It was this that led Blake to start Canberra Plumbing and Fire.
Blake's goal is to provide clients with the quality, service and education that they deserve and hopes that one day he may be in a position of influence to improve the minimum standards that the ACT construction industry deems acceptable.
